In the Research Center of Subatomic Sciences, which was established through a collaboration between the Research Center for Nuclear Physics and the Graduate School of Science, we promote lepton flavor mixing (MuSIC), lepton number non-conservation (CANDLES), and hadron physics.<\/p>\n<h4 class=\"title-middle\">FEATURE<\/h4>\n<p class=\"txt-feature\">The Project Research Center for Fundamental Sciences leads the lepton physics (MuSIC, CANDLES).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"col-30 pull-right\">\n<p class=\"lbl-daihyou\">Leader<\/p>\n<p class=\"daihyou\">Atsushi TAMII<\/p>\n<p><a class=\"link-project\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rcnp.osaka-u.ac.jp\/en\/about\/center.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">HP<\/a><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"clearfix\">\n<h4 class=\"title-middle\">RESULTS<\/h4>\n<div class=\"box-result\">\n<div class=\"clearfix\">\n<h5 class=\"title-result\">Research progress<\/h5>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"clearfix\">\n<div class=\"col-half pull-left\">\n<p class=\"result-catch\">Basic and applied research with muons<\/p>\n<p>The MuSIC is a DC muon beam facility located in RCNP. \u00a0It has the world\u2019s highest muon production efficiency, reaching approximately 10<sup>9<\/sup> muons\/sec with a 0.4 kW proton beam from the Ring-Cyclotron of RCNP. The muon beam is used in the advancement of basic and applied research such as nuclear physics, particle physics, material science, radiochemistry, earth and planetary sciences. This is a mystery of \u201cthe matter dominated universe\u201d. The key point to solve the mystery is the lepton number non-conservation that means \u201canti-particle\u201d and \u201cparticle\u201d can convert to each other. CANDLES project aims at discovering neutrino-less double beta decay which does not conserve the lepton number.
