By doing the prototype fabrications for on-site environment analysis robots, planetary rovers, and other robotic systems, it is reconstructing a collaborative venue for independent and group-based active learning, development, and mastery in practical experimental technology by the students, researchers, and engineers who will be responsible for the future of experimental technology in equipment and instrument development. They incorporate modern manufacturing methods for electronic circuit and ICT technologies with the basic experimental technologies which increasingly difficult to inherit and pass on in the laboratory, while at the same time learning basic technologies and enjoying the construction of actual machines. We hope that this activity leads to resurrect an activated environment and a human network that links inside and outside the university and crosses between laboratories.

FEATURE

We reconstruct a venue for students, researchers, and engineers to master practical experimental technologies. We incorporate modern manufacturing methods into existing technologies. Students and researchers learn basic technologies while enjoying actual machine fabrication and mastering practical laboratory technologies.

Leader

Yasuo KANEMATSU

RESULTS

Research progress

Receipt of the technology idea contest Techno’AI’ 2018 Grand Prix

The launch of the RoboLabo Project is in progress, with the objectives designated as (1) environment equipment, (2) new network formation, (3) prototype fabrication, (4) undergraduate and graduate-student organization, and (5) flagship machinery production. Seven individuals from the School of Science (Department of Physics 4th-yr) and two from the School of Engineering (Division of Electronic and Information Engineering 2nd-yr) are proceeding with independent fabrication activities and engaged in fabrication of a smartphone-operated radio-controlled car and a raspberry pi-controlled drone.
